The foundation is working to implement positive change in Poland and the region through projects designed to strengthen the rule of law and citizen access to the law. The Rule of Law Foundation is not primarily a grant-making Foundation, instead it is a Foundation committed to designing and implementing substantive projects in conjunction with other non-governmental organizations and where appropriate the government.

These programs include:

In the area of Judicial Independence designing and implementing pilot projects whose goal is to address specific problems facing the judiciary. These programs focus on judicial training and professional development; citizen access to justice and increasing citizen awareness about legal rights; strengthening judicial structures; and promoting and implementing judicial ethics and anti- corruption initiatives.

In the area of the legal professions, the Foundation focuses on projects designed to maximize the role of legal professional's in an advanced civil society. Programs in this area focus on training and professional development; design and implementation of programs that increase pro-bono or limited fee services for underserved portions of the community; reform of the practice of law to increase public access to justice; and enhancing the role of law graduates in the society.

In the area of legal education, the Foundation focuses on designing and implementing programs that continue the ongoing reforms in legal education in the region. Programs in this area focus on increasing ethics and professional responsibility in legal education; increasing the use of interactive teaching methodologies in the classroom; and increasing the use of practical legal education, including the support, and development of student legal clinics.

In each of these program areas and the other areas we work in consistent with our goals the Foundation seeks financial support from other Foundations, non-governmental organizations and individuals.
